The Role of K.B.Sundarambal in the Frreedom Movement

Abstract:
Kodumudi Balambal Sundrambal was a renowned stage artist singer of South India. She was popularly
referred to as the "Queen of the Indian stage. She was noted both for her resonant, vibrant voice and for the
dignity of her performances. A political activist during the Indian independence movement, K.B. Sundarambal
was the first personality to enter a stage legislature in India. Memories of the singing star Kodumudi Balambal
Sundarambal remain green in her centenary year, more than a quarter century after her passing. Her musical
voice still reverberates in mind's ear and the mark, of her personality as a modern?day minstrel on the lines of
the Tamil poetess Avvaiyar, whom she portrayed so successfully eponymous Gemini film remains vivid.
The contours of her vibrant personality, and the impact of her energy survive, but the saga of her life times
and character cry out to be read in greater detail. Her spectacular rags to raga's to riches story not or many
genres of music like stage song, classical concert and film singing but is also poignant in many ways.
