Remote Vehicle Interaction for Automatic Inspection

Abstract:
In this paper, we are proposed a measure to automate the inspection of motor vehicle through reliable vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. On road vehicles are increased more than 10 million and monitoring these vehicles are the challenging tasks for Traffic department. At present the vehicle inspections are done in a random manner so that there might be a chance that vehicles can go uninspected without proper documents. To overcome this we have come up with a systematic approach in the project. Smart RC cards and Licenses are rolled out in many states, we could automate this process by combined this with a reliable vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. With IEEE 802.15.4 protocol for short range wireless communication we propose a system which could transmit the SMART RC card data from inside the vehicle to the handheld device available with the patrol. This will reduce the Patrol officer’s consumption time in inspection. We successfully build a proof of concept of this system and tested it.
