A Review on Process for Image Mining and its Framework
Nikita Ramrakhini and Shoba Krishnan
Abstract:
Image mining is the process of extracting previously unknown knowledge and detecting intersecting patterns from a massive set of images. Image mining is rapidly gaining attention in the field of data mining, information retrieval and multimedia databases because of its potential in discovering useful image patterns based on color, texture, shape and basic descriptors of any image. Image mining is a promising field for research, still in its infancy. It deals with the extraction of implicit knowledge, image data relationship, or other patterns not explicitly stored in the images. Image mining has its applicability in almost all fields like medicine, remote sensing, cyber forensic and entertainment. These applications have different functionality and the process for mining is to be altered according to the application. In this paper, rudimentary levels in the process of Image Mining are explained. This paper also sheds a light on the principal frameworks for this process which can be molded according to the area of application.
