Abstract:
In this paper single strip ring resonator reactive impedance surface (SR-RIS) based metamaterial (MTM) antenna is proposed. The SR-RIS unit cell is examined by the means of reflection phase variation over a frequency range from zero to 8 GHz. Antenna is designed with the array of SR-RIS unit cells as a RIS. The overall dimension of antenna is 30×30 mm2. The co-axial feeding technique is deployed for better matching. The numerical results of proposed antenna are presented. -10dB impedance bandwidth is observed at 2.8 GHz and 5 GHz. The best impedance matching is observed at 6.5 GHz with returnloss -35 dB.At 6 GHz maximum bandwidth of 16.6% (≈1 GHz) is obtained with this proposed MTM antenna. The designed antenna is suitable for multiband applications inmobile and cellular communication lines.
