NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY 2020: REAFFIRMATION FOR EQUITABLE AND INCLUSIVE EDUCATION
Jinu Francis, Jasmine Mathew
Abstract:
Indias New Education Policy 2020 sets the stage for equitable and inclusive
education envisioned by the United Nations Fourth Sustainable Development Goal. The policy
proposes strategies to strengthen the education system so that all children in India can afford
school. This paper details the policy recommendations for the equitable distribution of
facilities there by the socio-economically disadvantaged groups to enjoy the benefits of
education in schools and higher education institutions. Apart from enabling mechanisms, and
an inclusive curriculum, the policy suggests training for teachers and recruitment of specialists
such as special educators, counselors, and trained social workers.
Keywords: National Education Policy2020, equitable and inclusive education, socioeconomically disadvantaged groups, flexible curriculum, enabling mechanisms.
