Brain Cancer Detection using Ultra Wideband Antenna

Abstract:
This article describes the design of Tapered Slot Antenna (TSA) with an exponentially tapered profile called Vivaldi antenna (one of the UWB antenna) for medical application. The antenna is designed for two geometries, exponential and stepped tapering. Both of these geometries was designed with FR4 (Flame Retardant) (∈r=4.3) substrate of thickness (1.6mm) with strip line feeding technique at the frequency range of 3.1-10.6 GHz. The designed stepped tapered Vivaldi antenna achieves 2.58 dB of gain and 4.2 dB of directivity greater than exponentially tapered Vivaldi antenna. Also, the stepped tapering operates for wider bandwidth than exponential. All results, reflection coefficient, VSWR, radiation pattern are presented. The simulation analysis was performed using the HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulation) software.
