ENABLING ART THERAPY IN EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS: EXPLORING THE THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS
Shilpa V. Yohannan, Dr. Sunirose I. P
Abstract:
Art as therapy is a means of expression, valuing process over product. Children can
benefit from art therapy in multiple ways, where a therapist can deal with the complex emotions of a
child through the art-making process. One of the ways to integrate the benefits of arts to children is
through educational institutions, thereby encouraging a more comprehensive and inclusive view of
development and existing barriers. However, integrating art as therapy for the overall well-being of
children in educational institutions is still an emerging concept. This paper describes the potential
advantages of visual arts for children in an inclusive educational setting, highlighting art therapys
significant role in enhancing childrens mental health and well-being.
