Role Played by Namakkal Ramalingam Pillai in the Indian National Movement

Abstract:
Namakkal Kavignar Ramalingam Pillai, noted for his notable contributions to nationalism, art, literature and
social reform, was born on 19th October 1888 at Mohanur in Namakkal taluk in Salem District. His father
Venakatarama Pillai was the Sub-Inspector of Police and the family belonged to lower middle - income group. He
got his early education in Namalvar School at Nammakkal and in 1909 joined Bishop Heber College at Trichy for
obtaining Fellow of Arts Course.
